Just a little post-script to yesterday’s all-too-brief discussion.
I hope the slightly tweaked structure to class time made an improvement on Monday.
Although the phrase “dialectical unity” came to run like a scarlet thread through our discussion (thanks to Robbie and Samuel Terrien!), the conversation was more multi-faceted than that observation might suggest.
As promised, Kate Baxter’s seminar presentation is now available as a PDF from the HST webpage on WebCT.
Reflecting on Monday’s class, it seemed to me that the two presentations were complementary.
It was, I think, a good sign that our conversation could have gone on much longer, and that there was such wide participation. Hopefully we can build on that from week to week.
In terms of the thoughts I was running through at the end of the hour, there is a bit more to be said, although the points are registered briefly on today’s handout.
Well, the discussion was a bit diffuse today, wasn't it?
